Post Race Report – 2023 Mid-Ohio

Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio | Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Lexington OH

In his third race in Trans Am’s Big Machine Vodka TA2 class, Cale returned to Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course. This would mark his return to the class since a wrist injury at Sebring in his first race of the season.

Qualification would see Cale grid in 24th position.

During the 45 lap race, Cale would work his way to 16th position, marking his best finish in TA2 yet.

Cale and his wife, Kristi, who grew up just an hour from Mid-Ohio.

“It was great to finally get a good finish in one of these TA2 races. In my first two races I was not able to get the finish that we really deserved. My goal has been top 15’s, and I was right there, so it feels good. I had to shake off some rust in practice and qualifying but was able to get in a good rhythm during the race, especially with that long green flag run. I was able to dodge some spins from other cars and make up spots. This track is hard to pass, and I was worn out after that race. Thanks to the Nitro Motorsports guys for giving me a great car again, it felt awesome to finally be back in the race car after being out for four months.”
